WHO WE ARE
Since 2009, JHRC has implemented education & literacy community engagement programs in collaboration with: mayors, fire and police departments, businesses and multiple school districts throughout United States. In 2013, the executive board of trustees expanded its mission to reduce the gaps associated with medical therapies for sexual assault survivors.
WHAT WE DO
We collaborate with rape crisis centers internationally to investigate early intervention sexual assault therapies to reduce the likelihood that survivors will develop symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and/or Major Depression Disorder. This research initiative is called the Teal Green Heart.
WHY WE DO IT
JHRC recognizes that many sexual assault survivors do not report the crime and therefore they don't receive the proper therapy they need to totally recover from sexual assault and/or rape.
DID YOU KNOW...

The Teal Green Heart symbol represents the international colors associated with sexual assault and traumatic brain injury (TBI); teal represents sexual assault awareness and green represents TBI awareness.

Meet Our Team
Dr. Shporer is a Research Scientist at MIT Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research. He received his BSc in Physics and Computer Science from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel, and earned a MSc and PhD in astrophysics from the Tel Aviv University in Israel. Dr. Shporer has over 8 years of professional experience in astrophysics research.
Dr. Avi ShporerManaging Statistician 
Dr. Grimaldi is a Staff Research Associate at UCLA. He received his MD from the University of Torino, and earned a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Torino, in Italy. Dr. Grimaldi has over 9 years of experience in System and integrative Neuroscience.
Dr. Piercesare GrimaldiManaging Neurophysiologist 
Dr. Kraus obtained a BA in Business
Administration with an emphasis in Accounting, and a BA in Psychology from California State University, Fullerton. She earned her MA in Clinical Psychology and a PhD in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in
Neuropsychology from Loma Linda University. Dr. Kraus has over 20 years experience.

Jeanine Horowitz received her BA in religious studies from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), a MA in theology from Fuller Graduate School and most recently, a MSc in neuroscience from King’s College London, in the United Kingdom. She has over nine years of professional experience with non-profit organization management, community event liaison, and grant writing.

Neil Barron studied electrical installation at Bromley College in Greater London, in United Kingdom. He has worked as an electrician and gained a wide range of skills and experience in domestic, commercial and industrial electrical installation and building maintenance. Mr. Barron has acquired in-depth knowledge management, customer service and standards in the education, accommodation, and medical sectors.

Miriam Broadnex is a retired Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) secondary school teacher. She received her BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Public Administration and her teaching credential from California State University Dominguez Hills. During her tenure as a teacher for over twenty years she taught in the LAUSD Options Program serving at risk students.

Dr. O’Keeffe, is a resident in neurosurgery at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London, and Fulbright Fellow in Neuroscience at UCLA. He received his MD and BA in Psychology, Physiology and Philosophy from the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. Dr. O’Keefe has over 10 years of experience in medicine and neuroscience research.

James Bozeman received his BS in Neuroscience and Behavior from the University of California Santa Cruz, and he earned an MS in Neural Stem Cells from King’s College London. Mr. Bozeman has over four years of experience in research and laboratory management. His goal is to make alternate therapies for various disorders available to the public.

Mr. Rivera received his BS in Computer Science from Yale University. He works in practical applications for Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security. He has over 15 years experience in the field and uses his spare time to preserve endangered languages.

Xiang Yan received the B.B.A. (Bachelor of Business Administration) degree from China Three Gorges University. He has been working in marketing and international import and export in different industries in multiple countries for over 13 years. He is currently running an online import and distribution business in California.

Renair Jackson is a music industry professional. She received her BA in Communications and Music Management from Georgia State University. She has a combined 6 of experience in artist management, studio management, and A&R administration.

Ms. Wallace received her BA in Women's Studies and Psychology from Scripps College, and a MS in Marriage, Family Therapy and Counseling from California State Long Beach. She has over 25 years of experience in rape, trauma and survivors counseling and teaches medical doctors and law enforcement. Ms. Wallace is a Commissioner for the Los Angeles Department of Mental Health.
